Billings Wedding Photographer | 2017 UPDATE | Jessica Simonton Photography

I have some changes coming in 2017 and wanted to create this blog mainly for those of you who have used me for your family photos year after year. I first want to say that I appreciate you guys so much and I couldn't have started or continued in this business without each and every single one of you.

Every October and November I take time to look back on the last year, start to plan for the next year, and pray a whole bunch for the changes I need to make to be a better business owner, photographer, friend, and wife. With that being said, I've decided to make some big changes in 2017. Starting now, I'll only being doing weddings, engagements, and TWO family/children sessions a month and I'll no longer be doing traditional newborn or senior sessions.  I originally thought I had to cut out families completely, but it honestly made me sad when I thought about giving up working with the families that I love so much so I decided to keep doing them but scale back from 12-15 a month to only 2 a month.

Here are the top two reasons I had to make this decision

1) During the summer of 2016, I became booked for almost every open weekend in 2017 with a wedding. Along with these weddings, I'll be shooting their engagement sessions and editing during the week. In order for me to have days of rest, continue to be involved with ministry at the prisons, and most importantly, have time for my husband, I'll have to cut back in other areas of my business.

2) I'm moving! We don't know where to exactly, but in the winter of 2017 we will be relocating for my husband's last three years of school. There is currently no PT school in Billings and if things go as we hope, we'll be in North or South Carolina. I'll still be flying back for weddings for a while so I hope to still see some of you around.

How this effects you

Last year I recommended people booking 4-6 weeks in advance to guarantee a spot, but this year I'll be requesting you book 3-5 months in advance. Once I have two sessions scheduled in a month, I'll no longer be booking anyone else for that month. Also, I'll only have weekdays available for sessions since my weekends are already filled with Weddings. Lastly, I will now require a non-refundable deposit before booking.

This will be my 2017 Family Portrait Pricing

$600 {1 hour session, 10 edited photos, (1) 24x30 Mounted Print, and $50 Print Credit} 25% due at booking.

What if we already have a session scheduled in 2017?

I know I have some of you on my calendar already and have made some commitments through May and those still stand at the same pricing. However, these new changes will apply to any new inquiries from this date forward. Ahhh, I can't believe I'm saying that. It really does break my heart and I'll definitely struggle when I see other photographers taking photos of your beautiful families.

Speaking of other photographers

I have recommendations for others that specialize in family, newborn, maternity, and senior photography in the event that I'm booked. My assistant Abi Greenfield will be starting to build her portfolio in the next year and you can find her on facebook under A Joy Photography. I've worked closely with Melanie Steiner Photography, Joanna Moss Photography, Anndrea Botch Photography, Jasmine Janae Photography, A&K Photography, Jeff Hosa Photography, and Paul Aspen with Media Makes Memories. I think all of these individuals do great work, but more than that, they love people! They have big hearts and will love your families, which is the main reason I'm referring you to them.

I'm sure other questions will come up so please call, text, or email me with anything that comes to mind. Love you all!!!
